JoBeth Petty Murphree, Director of Student Leadership. “Serving others was at the core of all that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did in his lifetime and is a significant part of the legacy he left us.This day is set aside to honor him and help others!”

Students give their time to service projects like painting, cleaning, yard work, organizing, serving food, gardening and various other tasks. Places like the Mission First, We Will Go, Habitat for Humanity, Spencer Perkins Foundation and others will receive a helping hand from students this year.

“It is our hope to impact the community by reflecting Christ through serving. This day is one way for all of us to live out the University motto of 'to serve, not to be served' in a tangible way,” adds Petty.
